Misophonia/tooth rage

The overlap between my lifelong misophonia triggers and objective jaw dysfunction, specifically the kind related to lack of chewing, is such that for a while I was almost convinced that there had to be some underlying connection between the two. Perhaps even that jaw dysfunction was the underlying cause of all misophonia.

I’m now less convinced due to the limited response to posts about misophonia on jaw forums and vice versa, and the existence of misophonia triggers that are not related to jaw dysfunction or would require elaborate explanations to connect to it. I’m now open to the possibility that it is my case specifically where the two just happen to have become so closely intertwined.

That said, a recent study did discover a connection between misophonia and orofacial hypermirroring, and I believe that this connection is worthy of further exploration in relation to objective physical dysfunction.
