My Expansion Treatment

I’m currently in the “turning phase” of upper jaw expansion with a MARPE (miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expander). I’ve done about 4mm of expansion so far, all in the lateral (side-to-side) dimension.

From what I can tell so far, this lateral expansion may have slightly reduced my self-triggered misokinesia. It comes in waves, so it’s hard to say for sure, but I haven’t had a wave yet as strong as the one that prompted me to seek answers back in March.

The next step (after lateral expansion is complete) is a more involved surgery to achieve forward expansion and counter-clockwise rotation.
